Inspired by San's science headcount here, I figured I'd ask if we have any other linguists? I adore French, and have a list as long of my arm of other languages I want to speak. What languages can you guys speak? How easy did you find learning them? Want to learn any more than you currently know? |

I plan on taking French in high school! Two of my brothers and a sister are taking French and a friend of mine speaks French VERY fluently. As of now, English is my first language, I know how to write Gallifreyan (since there is no spoken version), and would love to learn Klingon.

American English is my mother tongue, but I know a bit of German, ASL, NZSL, French, Spanish, Ancient Egyptian, Welsh, Russian, Japanese, Maori, Italian, Arabic, Quenya, Sindarin, Vulcan, Klingon, Australian English (Strine), British English, Auslan, Swahili...

I naturally speak English, but learned enough Spanish to get by as well and bits and pieces of Portuguese. I am learning German, but hope to learn many more. As well as Klingon.

French is just such a beautiful language, I want to work really hard at becoming fluent in it. Gallifreyan is gorgeous when written, I'll have to look into it myself at some point even if my drawing skills aren't the best  American English is my mother tongue, but I know a bit of German, ASL, NZSL, French, Spanish, Ancient Egyptian, Welsh, Russian, Japanese, Maori, Italian, Arabic, Quenya, Sindarin, Vulcan, Klingon, Australian English (Strine), British English, Auslan, Swahili... Wooooooooah. What I wouldn't give for a brain like yours, your memory must be a force to be reckoned with! That is a serious achievement right there! In the lower school I did learn a little Spanish, but after 2 years of not speaking it I'll admit I've forgotten most of anything of use. I speak Japanese almost fluently, and will continue to learn it over the next 2-3 years. Also I am self learning Russian.

I'm really good with languages, I've even invented a few of my own. I mostly know enough that I can supplement my knowledge with Google Translate. My memory is amazingly good, and there are times when I hate that--especially since my brain is especially good at recalling visual information... |
